Ugly Websites

Haven’t you ever wanted to know how to create the worst, ugliest, most badly designed website ever know to man?

Yeah, I thought so.

Check out how you can here.

I was able to identify 14/34.  I’ll have to retake the test in about a year and see how much my score improves after more time studying & working with graphic design!

Reasons You Might Be A Hardcore Graphic/Web Designer

While browsing through design blogs, I came across this humorous list of “25 Reaons You Might Be A Hardcore Graphic/Web Designer.”

The ones I thought applied best to me are listed below.

  • You’ve almost rear-ended the car in front of you because you were analyzing a font on a billboard.
  • You consider meals interruptions.
  • You’ve learned your lesson and stopped using the word “final” in any file name when saving.
  • You’ve intentionally given up trying to explain your projects to non-designers.
  • You’d rather organize your desktop than your sock drawer.
  • When you look at Album art all you see are grunge Photoshop Brushes. (Then you see the album art a couple minutes later)
  • You’ve Photoshopped out a watermark for a comp or mock-up.
  • You’ve actually $paid for a font.
  • You bookmark a resource more often than you have a fun night out on the town.
  • You can’t go to a restaurant without secretly critiquing the menu design.

Enjoy!

elizabethbradburn.com

This is the second domain name I have purchased for myself. I’m pretty excited.

When I was about nine years old, I started coding web pages. At one time, I boasted of having created over 200 sites. While that was probably true, I’m absolutely positive that only about 1% of those were well designed.

Since then, I have honed my design skills through various ways: looking at what others have created, reading books & magazines, and studying at Wake Technical Community College.

In this blog, I intend to share with you my exciting foray into the world of graphic design. What I’m learning, amazing designers & people I’ve met (as Mike Joosse said at DYF 2008, “everyone is a designer!”), and great design I’ve discovered.

au revoir!
